Leonora "Lee" Schneider (Curator Andrew Karp): Growing up in the Bronx, New York during the '20's, Leonora was always drawing pictures. She had no formal instruction until after high school when she enrolled in Central Commercial Art School. Here she focused on pen & ink fashion design. Art was put aside to care for her family after she married Alfred and had three daughters Martha,Joan and Carolyn. She started dabbling again after she moved to Florida in 1965. She attended art classes painting in oil and acrylic. Leonora recalls how she ended up helping instruct the other students as they watched her own work progressing. She has a special fondness for painting flowers. "Flowers make me happy" she used to say.Leonora has won many awards for entries submitted in local shows. At 86 years old Leonora had several paintings on display at the Shacknow Museum of Fine Arts in Plantation, Florida. ANDREW KARP PHOTOGRAPHY I was inspired by Lee to start this photo blog.
